about

My creative journey began long before I ever dreamed of becoming an author.

I’ve always had an overactive imagination, and I started writing little stories when I was just six years old, even rewriting The Three Little Pigs as The Three Little Dogs! As I grew older, my creativity took me in a different direction. I learned to play guitar, discovered songwriting, and eventually released some of my own songs. Music gave me a way to express myself and bring the ideas in my head to life.

But storytelling never really left me.

My journey into book writing wasn’t entirely straightforward. At university, I even failed a creative writing unit! Thankfully, it didn’t put me off writing for good. Instead, it reignited my passion for creating characters and worlds of my own.

Then came Nightstalker Academy.

The idea actually came to me in a dream. I woke up with the story in my head, wrote it down, and before I knew it, I was completely absorbed in bringing it to life. Thanks to a burst of hyperfocus, I wrote the first draft in just two weeks! The editing and refining took much longer, of course, but the experience reminded me just how much I love getting lost in a story.

As an autistic person with ADHD, I’ve learned that creativity doesn’t always follow a predictable schedule, and there isn’t one right way to write a book. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is embrace the way your own mind works rather than fight against it.

My own experiences also shaped the heroine I wanted to create. With Aoife, I wanted to write an autistic protagonist who is strong, capable, and unapologetically herself. I wanted to create the kind of character I would love to read about: someone who can face challenges, discover her own strengths, and build meaningful friendships and relationships without being defined solely by her autism.

At the heart of my writing is a belief that stories can do more than entertain us. They can help us feel seen, challenge our assumptions, and encourage us to see the world a little differently.

When I’m not writing, I work at a kennels and am passionate about working with and rehoming ex-racing greyhounds. I also enjoy amateur theatre, where I’ve even had the opportunity to play the villain in a local pantomime!

From releasing songs to creating fantastical worlds, my creative journey has taken me in directions I never quite expected. Now, with Nightstalker Academy, I’m excited to share the stories and characters that live in my imagination with readers who might just find a little piece of themselves within them.
